The first theatre has been set up at Basing village in Abhujmad region of Narayanpur district by the state police and there are plans to develop more such facilities in the backward area soon, a police senior official said.
The incident occurred when around 25 people were crossing the old bridge over a stream in the village, over 100 kms from Pune. The iron bridge is 25 years old and was rusting at the foundation due to stream water.
Ophthalmologist Dr Govinda Venkataswamy, the founder of Aravind Eye Hospital, was conferred the Padmashree award in 1973 for his service to the nation.
