Research Assistant Falls to His Death While Rock Climbing in JNU

The deceased was identified as Praveen Tiwari, a resident of JNU's Brahmaputra Hostel in the varsity campus and a research assistant at the Indian Council of Social Science Research.
The incident occurred when around 25 people were crossing the old bridge over a stream in the village, over 100 kms from Pune. The iron bridge is 25 years old and was rusting at the foundation due to stream water.
Ophthalmologist Dr Govinda Venkataswamy, the founder of Aravind Eye Hospital, was conferred the Padmashree award in 1973 for his service to the nation.
